"Agape" - The pure love of God.
"Fellowship" - Being together to share mutual interests, experiences and companionship.
"Agape Fellowship" - Being together to share the pure love of God.
Agape was chosen, not because anyone in this fellowship is a perfect example of love but because God's character is love (I John 4:7-8), and we seek to become like Him.
Jesus taught that the first commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind; and to love your neighbor as yourself." (Matt. 22:37-39, Mark 2:30-33, Luke 10:27)
When Paul wrote to the church at Corinth about the gifts God gave His people, he summarized by writing, "...the greatest of these [gifts] is love."
In our desire to celebrate the good news of salvation in Christ and proclaim it to the world, we endeavor to demonstrate the truth of Christ's message by love exemplified in our lives
(John 13:34-35).
